NHS procurement spend is estimated at £26 billion a year and, one year on from the launch of Lord Carter’s report on Operational Productivity in the NHS, the remit to deliver £5 billion of savings each year through efficiency measures is still high on the agenda. The latest strategy, the Future Operating Model for Procurement, together with other ongoing initiatives, aims to help deliver against this target. There has never been a more important time for both the NHS procurement community and industry to connect and explore opportunities for collaboration, in addition to enhancing overall skills development.
